Coloring pages is a commonly used practice by parents at home or teachers at school to impart knowledge of the alphabets, animal, monuments, fruits, vegetables, numbers etc. Kids love coloring activities and they can even learn a lot through color & fun activities. Colors are fascinating and attract kids easily, that is why the environment of play schools or preschool sessions includes multi colors to make the kids or toddlers happy and cherish. Research shows that the child in early age learns faster than ever, so the knowledge should be impeccable that has to be imparted to kids.
If you are unable to find black and white preschool worksheets that you like, you can still go for the colored ones; however, you may want to consider adjusting your printer settings. Instead of having them print off in colored ink, you may want to adjust your settings to gray scale. This will save you a considerable amount of money and printer ink, especially in the long run. Doing this can also create an additional activity for your child, as you can have them color all the pictures themselves.
Draw images of alphabets, animals, cartoons, numbers, leaves, etc. is another way to impart understanding within a kid of various living or non living things on the earth. It invokes the imagination within a kid; make use of paper and vibrant colors to start such drawing activities with your kids and make sure you occupy an outdoor location such as gardens, roofs, or terrace etc.
The first step to teaching the above is strengthening the small muscles in the hands and wrists that are used in handwriting. This process is often referred to as building fine motor skills. You can encourage fine motor development by having your child use art supplies like crayons, paints, markers, glue and scissors. Lacing activities, stringing beads and cheerios, playing with playdoh, scooping sand or rice, and activities like pouring and stirring are also great fine motor activities.

Printable worksheets can be done with your child when it is convenient for you. Between the ages of 3 and 5 they will need your help, as they cannot read instructions, but once you've explained what they need to do on each worksheet, you can leave them to it. A worksheet should not take more than 15 to 20 minutes to complete - you can certainly squeeze that in once or twice a week.
