Preschool provides the children to enhance their motor skills - Several activities performed by the children under the supervision of teachers help in the development of a child's fine motor and gross motor skills. Children are encouraged to run, play games or climb. Children are also taught to balance and are even asked to thread beads that help in hand-eye coordination.
When they are writing, concentrate on their pencil grip as well and make sure they get that right. It will take a long time for the kids to develop a proper grip - just keep correcting them and in time they will get it. Preschool worksheets can be quite helpful to teach the kids various new things - from alphabets to numbers to language development. Don't hand over the worksheets and expect them to complete the task. Sit with them, help them and participate in the activity as much as you can. It will also make the activity a fun exercise. Plus this way you can also monitor their progress.
To Pay or Not to Pay? There are hundreds if not thousands of free printable worksheets available online. These are ideal for filling time or keeping the kids busy on a rainy day, but few of them offer a systematic set of worksheets with activities designed to teach your children a specific set of skills. If education is your aim, you may have to spend a little to get useful, comprehensive worksheets that actually help your child to learn.
There are many opportunities to teach your child how to count. You probably already have books with numbers and pictures, and you can count things with your child all the time. There are counting games and blocks with numbers on them, wall charts and a wide variety of tools to help you teach your child the basic principles of math. Mathematics worksheets can help you take that initial learning further to introduce the basic principles of math to your child, at a stage in their lives where they are eager to learn and able to absorb new information quickly and easily.
Worksheets that include topics such as social and natural science will help to expand your child's horizons, teaching them about their environment and how things work, while improving their vocabulary at the same time. A worksheet about farm animals can initiate a visit to the farm area at the zoo, or to a real farm, where your child can explore and learn even more.
Although you can get free worksheets to download online, it is difficult to tell whether you have covered all learning areas in the preschool curriculum with individual pages that you download one at a time. Printable worksheets can be done with your child when it is convenient for you. Between the ages of 3 and 5 they will need your help, as they cannot read instructions, but once you've explained what they need to do on each worksheet, you can leave them to it. A worksheet should not take more than 15 to 20 minutes to complete - you can certainly squeeze that in once or twice a week.
